Calico has a unique opportunity for a candidate living in the Blackpool area to support our award winning Shared Apprenticeship Scheme (Constructing the Future).
Working with a reputable and established contractor, the successful candidate will become part of a thriving growing team and gain various knowledge and skills to enable them to progress with their career. You will be initially based at a site in Blackpool working with qualified and experienced project managers and quantity surveyors while undertaking a two -year training programme working towards NVQ Construction Contracting Operations Level 3 Framework. The position is for an individual who is looking to progress within the construction industry to move into senior management or higher level qualifications.
Tasks to include:-
- Supporting with the organisation of a busy construction site and ensuring that its many elements run on time
- Procuring and placement of orders for plant, materials and subcontractors and the taking off of quantities.
- Cost forecasting
- Submitting early warnings and compensation events to clients.
- Attendance in client progress meetings and subcontractor pre start meetings.
- A variety of office and site based work
- Using office equipment and systems such as databases
- One day a week training at a local college undertaking the Construction and Contracting Operations Apprenticeship Level 3
The ideal candidate will have-
- Good practical skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to liaise with staff at all levels
- Reliability and Punctuality
- Good initiative and a proactive attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised
- Excellent work ethic
- Good level of numeracy and literacy
- An understanding of the expectation that there will be an involvement with general site work as well as QS duties.
- Flexibility
- Commitment and passion towards own training and development
- Good attention to detail
- Good IT skills
- Must be 18+
Applicants should have:-
5 GCSEs or above including Maths and English at grade C (or 5) and above
Driving licence preferred or willing to work towards
